Your Next Opportunity Awaits
Responsibilities
As Director of Technology, you’ll report directly to the Founding Attorney and serve as the firm’s primary technology authority. Your mandate is focused and consequential:
- Lead the firm’s AI strategy — identify, evaluate, and implement AI tools that reduce the operational cost of delivering legal services without compromising quality or confidentiality.
- Improve the client experience — own every client-facing technology touchpoint: intake, portals, e-signature, communications, and transparency tools.
- Improve the team member experience — reduce friction, eliminate repetitive manual work, and equip attorneys and staff with tools that let them focus on high-value work.
- Protect client confidentiality — develop and maintain firm-wide cybersecurity and data privacy protocols that meet bar ethics requirements and earn client trust.
- Keep the practice of law with our lawyers — AI in this firm augments legal professionals; it does not replace their judgment. You will define and enforce the guardrails that make that distinction clear.
- Manage the full technology stack — including Clio, CoCounsel, Second Nature, Nextiva, and FormBuilder — ensuring every platform delivers measurable value.
- Drive growth through technology — advise on marketing technology, CRM, lead management, and digital presence to support the firm’s aggressive expansion goals.
Qualifications
- Have 5+ years in technology management or IT leadership, ideally with legal or professional services experience.
- Have hands-on experience with practice management software (Clio, MyCase, or comparable).
- Understand AI tools well enough to separate real operational value from hype — and build policies that govern responsible use.
- Take confidentiality and attorney-client privilege seriously — not as compliance checkboxes, but as professional obligations.
- Can translate complex technical concepts for attorneys and non-technical staff without condescension or jargon.
- Are comfortable in a fast-moving, growth-oriented environment where priorities evolve and initiative is rewarded.
- Have experience with cybersecurity fundamentals, cloud-based communications (VoIP/UCaaS), and document automation.
Bonus Points For
- Familiarity with AI-assisted legal tools, including CoCounsel or comparable platforms.
- Experience supporting marketing technology — CRM, digital advertising, lead management, or SEO/SEM platforms.
- Relevant certifications: CompTIA Security+, PMP, ITIL, or similar.
